DreamMay 30, 2009
I was sitting next to my cousin in a filled church. That out of place familiar feeling sank down onto me. It was like seeing someone you've seen before, but can't place when or where.
Danielle's features appeared infront of me, making me jump slightly in my movie theatre feeling seat.
"Hey, service is about to begin." She warned as she turned to face forward, her dirty blonde hair twisted with her as she did. I nodded in response and faced forward.
Out of the corner of my eye I noticed someone walking in. Some male made his way towards Danielle and I.
I also noticed that he held her attention until he made it to us.
A series of "excuse me"'s and "I'm sorry"'s came from the boy as he approached us in the middle of the row.
Danielle faced me and asked if I could move one row back, behind her and the boy who would take my seat. Me being me, I moved politely without saying anything.
The male smiled at me in thanks and I could tell he was measuring me up. So I decided to look a
Oh...how I wish to be young
wrapped in my fathers arms
listening to his heartbeat flutter
beneath his breast
how I long for the simplicity
of not knowing how
of not knowing why
within my mind I don't understand
the love of others
within one's comfort zone
intuition telling, whispering
the joy of human surrounding
the embrace of others
tears escaping their hold
soft shudders run their course
S-o-l-d-i-e-rS - Show us you care
O - Other than say
L - Lead us to you
D - Demand you're okay
I - Indeed, we know
E - Easing into our lives
R - Remember the fallen
Uhhhh. .-.Can you see the rain drops
tumble from my eyes
Can you hear the thunder
booming through my cries
At Ease SoldierA gun is fired, turning my senses on high
I turn around to see who'd been hit, I start to cry.
My friend had been shot, a close one at that
I'll murder that bastard, I give my gun a pat.
My eyes scan all around me, I see who it is
I aim and pull the trigger, "How do you like this?!"
More demons are coming, curse my loud mouth
I glance at my team, deciding to head south.
"Bad move Americans!", all I can think is, "Oh shit..."
A loud explosion behind me, that threw me into a fit.
We returned the fire, my team and I
Another friend falls, I scream, "Damn it, why?!"
A sharp pain in my chest, the armor stained red
I think of my daughter, sleeping soundly in bed.
I hear the voices fading, I think of my love
I wonder if my family's proud of me, the ones up above.
My team mates-no, friends, rush to my side
Before, I've never seen a man collapse as he cried.
My hand on his leg, pleading for his attention
He looks at me, his face so faded he was in another dimension.
I clear my throat, asking him
